I worked at FedEx for seven years as a Sr. Business Applications Analyst where I was a major contributor on the project team that was responsible for the release of FedEx Ship, a client/server-based shipping application for Windows and Mac. I was the project lead for the Macintosh version. Co-lead on internet-based shipping application. Interfaced with external clients during usability and beta testing of applications.
My responsibilities included:
- Write business requirements for various technical shipping solutions
- Design and layout the screens for the user interface
- Conduct usability studies to ensure ease of use
- Participate in QA testing
- Lead alpha and beta testing
After I started my own business I was hired by FedEx as a consultant where I facilitated a comprehensive usability study for major a shipping website (www.fedex.com). I produced the report that detailed the results of adding additional billing functionality to an existing site and provided recommendations on how this could be implemented to add functionality and maintain the site’s usability. I helped to draft the functional requirements, flowcharts of the functionality, and a set of wire frames with recommended improvements in the user experience for a new billing component within the existing site.
